Donald B. Wright, known affectionately to many as Don, passed away on May 1, 2026, in Lebanon after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 1, 1962, in Crawfordsville, Don lived a life marked by authenticity, unwavering love for his family, and a passionate spirit that touched all who knew him.
A graduate of North Montgomery High School, Don was a man who embraced life with sincerity and boldness, never hesitating to speak his truth regardless of the opinions of others. His personality was defined by this fearless honesty, which coupled with his deep devotion to his children, grandchildren, and his beloved dog Kendra, created enduring bonds of love and respect.
Don's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. An avid motorcyclist and skilled vehicle enthusiast, he found joy in working on his vehicles and riding through open roads. Playing euchre with friends and family was a favorite pastime, fostering cherished moments of laughter and camaraderie. Don’s sweet tooth was well-known; he delighted particularly in tootsie rolls, chocolate raisins, and Dr Pepper, little pleasures that added sweetness to his day.
His hobbies extended to spending quality time with his grandchildren—Kaysen, Maddisyn, Ayden, Collyn, Serenity, David, and Austan—who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Don found great pride in his sobriety, celebrating 19 years of living clean and clear, a testament to his strength and determination. Among proud memories were the day when Pierre Garcon signed his 49ers hat during a game, a thrilling moment for a faithful 49er football fan, and his notable win at a horseshoe tournament, showcasing his competitive spirit.
Don is survived by his devoted son, Donald “Lester” Wright and his wife Shakia, his loving daughter Amanda Pine and her husband Greg, sisters Debbie Lyon and Delinda Neighbors, as well as several nieces and nephews. These family ties were among the most precious elements of his life, nurtured with care and genuine affection.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Dora Wright, his grandmother Hazel Newlin, and siblings Harry Dale Wright, Darrell Wright, and Denise Andrews. Their memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the legacy he left behind.
